Alpaca fleece is the natural fiber harvested from the Alpaca. It can be light or heavy in weight depending on how it is spun. It is a soft, durable, luxurious and silky natural fiber. Whilst similar to sheep's wool, it is warmer, not prickly and has no lanolin, which makes it hypoallergenic. Alpaca are native to the high Andes mountains of South America, domesticated for centuries by the Inca of Peru their fleece was worn only by royalty. Soft like Cashmere but stronger than wool Alpaca wool is the connoisseurs’ choice – known for over six thousand years as the fibre of the gods.
